This homeowner wanted to update and transform this old farmhouse into a wonderful place to retire. By removing the walls between all the rooms in this original compartmentalized home, adding square footage, and opening it into one open space, USI was able transform this home into their dream retirement home.

Here is a close up look of the living zone. The client desired a mixture of textures and mediums with a earthy, casual and inviting space.

This picture displays the overall kitchen and dining space. Upon the initial consultation, USI was able to identify quickly that this client desired to be able to cook, yet, still be included in the conversations within the house. This layout displays how that was accomplished.

Closer angle. Notice the reclaimed/refinished door from the 1900's as the entry into the walk-in pantry.

Heres a closer angle of the kitchen only. Details such as schoolhouse pendants, an industrial faucet and distressed brick subway tile creates a simple yet strong farmhouse statement.

Here's a close up of the countertop combination. Since the client was a high volume baker and a big cook, USI created 2 islands, 1 with a marble slab specifically to accommodate this clients baking needs, one with concrete that provides multi-functionality for a busy kitchen, while still accomplishing a farmhouse, casual, rustic feel. The perimeter encompassed a beautiful quartz that compliments both island surfaces. The result? Beautiful!
